Jason Phu graduated from the College of Fine Arts UNSW in 2011 with a BFA Honours. He has also studied in Nova Scotia College of Art & Design & Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing.
He currently works at Cicada Press as a Custom Printer for Etching and Lithography, as a Director of Throwdown Press, and as a member of the Teaching Resource Support Staff in the Printmaking Department at COFA.
Jason Phu’s artwork deals with the mixed cultural identities of Australians. Drawing upon his own cultural heritage as a Chinese Australian he makes light of the dislocation and disassociation that he and others around him have experienced.
Jason joined the Hughes Gallery in 2013 with the inclusion of a suite of works in Paper Trail. His work has been exhibited throughout Sydney and abroad in Taiwan, Thailand & Chicago.
